Overview

Traditional wooden boat builder Gail McGarva will be giving a talk about how she came to specialise in the building of replicas or ‘daughterboats‘ of working vessels of historical resonance. Gail will talk specifically about the Dorset lerret, the building of the new generation lerret and the oral histories she has gathered. Traditional wooden boatbuilding is Gail’s specialist area and her passion is for open working boats of clinker construction. Gail has been awarded a British Empire Medal for her services to clinker boatbuilding and to heritage crafts
